Hormones

Testosterone and estrogen, explained simply

How these hormones shape energy, mood and recovery, and when optimisation is worth it.

Testosterone and oestrogen are the two hormones most often blamed for how you feel in your forties and beyond. The truth is more interesting. Both hormones shape energy, mood, muscle, bone, skin, sleep and libido in men and women alike — just in different ratios.

Symptoms alone are not enough to know what is going on. We measure free and total testosterone, oestradiol, SHBG, LH, FSH and DHEA, look at them alongside thyroid and metabolic markers, and only then decide whether optimisation is worth considering.

When it is, the protocols are conservative, monitored, and reversible. The goal is not to chase the highest number on the page but to put your hormones back inside the range that suits you, and to keep them there with the smallest possible intervention.
